The Department of Anatomy is situated in the spacious location of the ground floor of the College building. The department also prides itself in its research output. The department is proud too of the talent and expertise of its in house trained technical laboratory staff. There is proposals to start for preparing the Histo-logical Slides both normal and special stunning methods for undergraduate students.

Inside Department

  The Department is spacious with Dissection Hall, Histology Laboratory, Research Lab. Museum and an air-conditioned demonstration room, well equipped with Audio-visual teaching aids, like Microscopes (uniocular, binocular and dissection microscope) microscope with T.V monitor, slide projectors, over head projectors, computers, printers, L.C.D projector. There is also a large collection of Dissected Specimens and dry bone sets, X-rays, Scan, well equipped research laboratory with all research facilities.

  The gross anatomy lab is provided with a large dissection hall, histology lab and a museum with curator section. The students get an opportunity to study the anatomy practically in the museum and the morgue in the college. The museum has a collection of some common and some very rare specimens of various clinical, histological and pathological conditions presented before and diagnosed by HMCHR during the course of time.

  The museum has exhibits including wet specimens accompanied by illustrations, dry specimens, charts, photographs, catalogues, skeletons, revolving X-ray view boxes exhibiting X-rays, M.R.I's C.T Scans etc. The department has a library with numerous reference books and atlases

Departmental Library

The department library has an exhaustive collection of textbooks in forensic medicine, toxicology and allied subjects. The library includes complete series of the following journals:

  Journals of the Orissa Medico-Legal society.

  Journal of Indian Academy of Forensic Medicine.

  Journal of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology.

  Forensic Science International.

  The American Journal of Forensic Medicine and Pathology.

  Medicine, Science and the Law.

  American Journal of forensic Sciences.

Departmental Museum

It is one of the best museums with excellent collection of colored photographs of different types of cases, soft specimens, bones, whole skeletons, fire arms, weapons, histopathology slides, poisonous plants/ Chemicals/ animals and other specimens. These specimens are arranged in cubicles representing different subject subdivisions such as Jurisprudence, Forensic Identity, Thanatology, Asphyxia, Trauma, Forensic Ballistics, Sexual Jurisprudence, and Toxicology. There are facilities for small group teaching in the museum during practical hour training.

Computer facilities

There are facilities for on-line computer literature searches via the College computer network and for the usual departmental work. All records are stored in the computers including the medico-legal records of the expert opinion cases for ready references.

Laboratory facilities

There is a spacious practical laboratory (Fig) with equipments i.e. Microscope, X ray viewing box, Chemical balance etc for undergraduate student practical training purposes.

Photography facilities

There are sophisticated photographic equipments like- SLR cameras, Digital Video Camera etc for the use of Medico-legal work.

Mortuary and dead body cold chamber

The mortuary facility is also provided for our students.

Seminar room

A common seminar room, with all modern facilities of audiovisual systems.

Demonstration Room

There is a demonstration room with modern teaching aids, which accommodates 100 students.
